The market share of Europe's leading mobile operating systems from 2010 to 2020

Since moving iOS in 2013 to the most popular European app, Android has been able to increase its market share for each subsequent year. As of 2020, Android was the operating system for 71.22 percent of European phones.

The OS market share does not tell the whole story

The Android app has a unique advantage over the market share, depending on the number of manufacturers making Android-enabled devices. IOS, on the other hand, is only used by Apple devices. Looking at the market share held by individual devices provides a clear picture of the gaming environment among major manufacturers. In the second quarter of 2018, the combined market share of Apple devices stands at 29.19 percent, ahead of the 8.65 percent share held by Samsung Galaxy devices.

Stock markets in the United Kingdom

The share of the iOS market share in the United Kingdom is higher than the European level, sitting at 50.85 percent. Apple devices were the two most popular devices sold in the United Kingdom in July 2020, with the iPhone 1 and iPhone SE 2020 making up 25 percent of smartphones sold that month.
